Here is a few pages of the Kindergarten packet "in action"…

We used a bingo dabber to dot the numbers 1-75.
This was the PERFECT challenge for her!
And super FUN!
I had her say each number before she dabbed it.
It was a great way to make sure she could read and recognize numbers up to 75.
"This is FUN!"
This page took her a bit of time to complete...
but boy was she proud of herself at the end of the maze!
Following Directions with Positional Words…
She had to read (or listen to) the directions and color the picture.

Label and Write!
These pages were a HUGE hit and really took some time to complete...

First, she began by labeling the picture using the word bank. She was able to read dog, boy, sled and hat. When we came to the word scarf we worked on sounding it out.

We even erased things when they were incorrect ;)

hen we wrote a sentence!
Here sentence was:
The boy is pulling the dog.
As you can see, we get a little fancy with our y's!

Color by Ten Frame!
Count the ten frames and use the color code to color the skates...

We actually started with the one that had 20 in it and worked backwards. I explained that when 2 ten frames were fill, that was the same as 10+10. We know that 10+10 = 20
The visual aspect of 2 ten frames that were filled made it easy for her to see 20.
Then we worked on finding (counting) 19.
We know that 19 is one less than 20
EASY!
Non-Standard Measurement with a Snowman Ruler!
Begin by cutting out the snowman ruler...
Measure the pencil...

Measure your hand...

Measure a glue stick...
Measure your shoe! TOO MUCH FUN!!

She LOVED being able to measure the items, count the snowmen and record her answer!

Find the Word Family!
Wildly Successful!
Find the hidden words and record them in the correct columns.
I LOVE these Watercolor Pencils!
Just dip and color and it looks like watercolors! NO MESS!!!

This packet of NO PREP READING COMPREHENSION for January includes 20 simple stories to help with fluency, comprehension and building reading confidence. Each story provides early readers with a genuine opportunity to practice reading short stories they can decode with early phonics skills and sight word recognition. These Comprehension Checks can be used independently, in small groups, guided reading groups, morning work or homework!

There are 3 Accountability Stars at the top of the page. Students can color a star each time they read a story. This ensures that they are reading the story at least 3 times to encourage fluency.

After completing the Comprehension Check, students can color a star on the Reading Comprehension and Fluency Tracker. Each month will have 20 different Comprehension Checks with 5 Comprehension Questions. These simple comprehension questions provide students with an opportunity to look back at the text and using complete sentences. This option is more effective than the "fill in the bubble" method. In addition, students will use the color code to look back in the text (text evidence) and highlight the answers.

This packet includes comprehension checks with and without the crayons.

The Comprehension Questions allow students to work on:
-Making Inferences
-On the surface questions
-Under the surface questions
-Rhyming
-Text Evidence
-Vocabulary
-Making Connections
-Monitor Understanding
and MORE!
