Vowel Owls GIVEAWAY!

I am super excited about today's giveaway!  The Moffatt Girls LOVE to make learning fun and this Vowel Owl set fits the bill!  When I saw this adorable Vowel Owl set from Learning Resources, I knew would be a perfect learning tool for my little Sophia who is now in Kindergarten!  The timing for this product couldn't be more perfect!

As you can see, we had a ton of FUN with our Vowel Owls!

There are 6 colorful owls (5 printed with the vowels and 1 blank one). We used the yellow blank owl to store the 100 picture cards.   You could also use the blank one for long vowels or the "sometimes y vowel".  I love that this set is so bright, colorful and durable!

Simple pull out a picture card, say the same on the card and listen for the long/short single syllable vowel sound.

Once you hear the vowel sound, sort it into the correct owl cup.

She loved this activity! So simple and yet so effective! She played until all of her cards were gone, and then she wanted to play again!

For example, here is the picture cat.  Sophia would say the sounds of the word cat and listen for the vowel /c/.../a/.../t/ Then she would sort it in the red owl cup with the a on it. Some words word short vowels and some words were long vowels.

I am not sure why, but we sure giggled a lot during this game!  I think it was those cute owls!

Happy little learner = Happy Mommy!

I would also ask her if she heard a long vowel or a short vowel.  We talked about long and short vowels for awhile and then it really hit home!

For every single picture, she said the word and sounded it out…sound by sound!

This activity really helps with the following:
*word recognition
*sounding out words
*spelling the words
*syllables
*long/short vowels
