Singapore Math GIVEAWAY!

I am SUPER excited to host a GIVEAWAY for Singapore Math Inc. This will be our 2nd year using Singapore Math Inc., and we LOVE it!

Did you know that kids in Singapore boast the highest math scores?  The Trends in Mathematic and Science Study (TIMSS) show Singpore as the top ranking in mathematical education!  The math teaching strategies in Singapore are obviously working. As a former teacher and now a homeschool mom, this is something that peaks my interest!

Picking the right math curriculum for The Moffatt Girls was something that took a lot of research and thoughtful consideration. Singapore Math is both challenging and rigorous, which is a perfect fit for my 2nd Grader.

Key Points about Singapore Math:
*The program really stresses mental math and the model drawing approach with a variety of strategies to help with these concepts. This is a curriculum that really focuses on conceptual understanding and scaffolds a child's learning through three-stages approach.  First, there is a concrete stage, which utilizes manipulatives, followed by a pictorial stage, and then an abstract approach.  This teaching method allows a child to have a solid understanding of basic mathematical concepts before working at the abstract level.

*The Primary Mathematics series encourages active thinking process, communication of mathematical ideas and problem solving.  I love how there is a strong emphasis on number sense, mental math skills and a deep understanding of place value.  Concepts are taught to mastery and then revisited.

The Curriculum:
Primary Mathematics has Levels 1-6 and each level has 2 textbooks (A and B).  In addition, there are 2 workbooks (A and B) and a Home Instructor's Guide or a Teacher's Guide. As a homeschool family, we are using the Home Instructor's Guide.   There are three different versions of this curriculum available, but after speaking to a representative, I felt that the U.S. Edition was right for us.  You can see samples of each edition {HERE}.  Singapore Math, Inc. also offers placement tests on their site, which you can download {HERE}.

Read more about it!
PBS Parents wrote a fantastic article on "What is Singapore Math?" They explain how Singapore Math Inc. is about mastery and NOT just memorization.  It is not just about learning the HOW, but also the WHY.

CNN also wrote a great article on how America's students can benefit from Singapore Math, and I couldn't agree more.  You can read that article {HERE}.

GIVEAWAY TIME!
Singapore Math Inc. has graciously offered a giveaway to one our readers for the grade level set of YOUR choice!
Can't wait to win?  You can check out Singapore's Math Curriculum {HERE}.

The giveaway set will include the following:
*Textbooks A and B
*Workbooks A and B
*Teacher's Guide OR Homeschool Guide
*Extra Practice OR Challenge Word Problems

You know the drill! Just use the rafflecopter below to enter!

Our school hosted a PD conference on Singapore Math and I was AMAZED by the way even the simplest concepts were taught. I loved learning about different ways to teach the number line so that students really understand moving up and down the number line. Our school has not adopted Singapore math for Kindergarten, so I would LOVE to win it and pilot it at our school!
