I Found a GREAT Product!

Although I make a lot of my own learning resources that I use with my girls, I can't make everything.  I wish I could, but I just don't have the time or energy.  As a former educator, I know that I am not an end all to resources so I search for products from teachers that I can use with my girls. I recently came across a GREAT product for Kristin at A Teeny Tiny Teacher, which is called Daily Language Arts Skills Review.

Daily Language Arts Skills Review has been so helpful and I just LOVE it!  Often times I want to work with Sophia and I need a few minutes to get her focused.  I certainly don't want Audrey to waste her time on some meaningless and boring task so I search for great resources.

Here is why I LOVE Daily Language Arts Skills Review:
1) It provides meaningful areas for review:
-personal information (address, birthday etc.)
-penmanship
-beginning sounds
-ending sounds
-short/long vowels
-vowel teams
-contractions
-compound words
-grammar usage and mechanics
-syllables
-sight word practice and more!

2) There are enough sheets so that students can practice/review for the ENTIRE year!  That's 34 weeks of practice!!

3) It serves as a little assessment and helps me better drive my instruction and target Audrey's needs.

4) Since review is crucial to any learning environment, this is a perfect way to have a daily opportunity for review.

5) It covers a lot of Common Core Standards

Here is a sample!  So cute!

Those are my thoughts on this FANTASTIC product from A Teeny Tiny Teacher!  A BIG thanks Kristen for making my life a little bit easier:)

If you haven't visited Kristen's adorable blog, be sure to check it out!

POP for Addition and Subtraction Game Giveaway!

We have a FUN math GIVEAWAY for you!!
Learning Resources and some great products that help make learning fun and hands-on!  I am so excited to be able to offer and review this Pop for Addition and Subtraction Game!  We have been using this product for a couple of weeks now and we LOVE it!

Whenever learning becomes a game, it is more effective!  We had a ton of fun playing with POP for Addition and Subtraction and I can clearly see some improvement in Audrey's math.

How Does it Work?
*Spin the spinner and determine how many gumballs to take
*Answer the math facts correctly and keep the gum balls (sums to 10)
*Watch out for the POP piece!  All your gumballs go back into the box.

The game is simple and the game is effective!  For now, I removed all of the subtraction pieces since the game requires you to solve the problems in your head, and Audrey is currently working on just the addition facts.  Once we have mastered our math facts a bit more, this will provide some excellent practice!

Here is your chance to WIN a set for yourself!

Sight Word Watches (Fry's 100 List)

I recently did a survey on my Facebook page about which list of sight words you use when teaching.  Do you use the Dolch set of sight words?  Do you use Fry's List?  Do you use another set of sight words?  Apparently the camp is equally split.  Some use Dolch, some use Fry's, some use another set.  If you are interested, I came across a great explanation of the difference between the Dolch list and the Fry list {HERE}.

I typically use the Dolch list, but I am not opposed to the Fry list.   I just wish everyone just used the same set of sight words!  It would make things a lot easier! :)

At any rate, I had quite a few requests to create our Sight Word Watches with the Fry's list.

We also have these available in the Dolch Lists:

Pinterest Laughs!

You have heard of pinterest...right?  Silly me, of course you have!  That is like asking, "You have heard of the telephone, right?"

Well...I LOVE Pinterst!   Pinterest inspires.  Pinterest helps organize.   Pinterest is a virtual Pinboard that lets us share beautiful things from the web.  One author even said that Pinterest can improve parenting {HERE}.  Although social media can be over addicting, we can also use it to improve our parenting, our teaching, our lives.  But keep in mind, it can also overtake our lives.  Pinterest doesn't consume a lot of my time.  My boards are a bit neglected and not as organized as they "should" be.  But that is totally okay!

Pinterest makes me laugh!  Here area  few of my favorite e-cards on Pinterest...

ha..ha!! hmmm:/

Very true.

:)

Yup!

Go ahead....pin away!
