Ready2Read Level 1: Resources

Audrey has finished Level 1 of our Ready2Read Program and can't stop reading book after book!  The success of this program has really boosted her reading confidence and she LOVES to read.   Here are a few resources that we use to maintain her reading level:

We buy lots of easy readers from the Friends of the Library!  I spend anywhere from 10 cents to 25 cents for each book.    I love having these in our home so the girls can have constant access to them.  We also borrow books from the library and pick up great deals from garage sales.  We have a few sets that we purchased as well!

We use our Tic-Tac-Word Family Games to practice CVC words.  The more Audrey practices, the more fluid she becomes in her reading.  She LOVES playing this game with Mommy!  She usually wins;)

The Break the Sight Word Code is a HUGE success in our home and is a best seller on Teachers Notebook!  There are 30 pages that work with all the pre-primer sight words and simple CVC words.   These sheets can be used again and again when they are placed in plastic sleeves and used with a dry erase marker.  Audrey feels so successful since she can read the sentences on her own!  She enjoys being a detective who uncovers the clues to make a sentence, which she can read!

Writing Kits!

We have been enjoying our writing kits and I wanted to show you them in action in our home.
Today is the last day they are on sale at The Moffatt Girls Shop!

Here is the PreK-K in action...
Click {HERE) to purchase the PreK My Book of Colors Writing Kit

Audrey chose five pictures to color red from the picture sheets.

She cut them out, which is great for those fine motor skills such as writing.

She glued three pictures in the center and wrote about two of the pictures.

Here is the K-First Grade Writing Kit in action.  This one is a little more advanced, so we are taking this at a slower pace.  This has required a lot of modeling, but she really did a great job and was SUPER proud of her picture and her writing:)
I wrote down the words she came up with and she copied them in the circle map.

What is pink?  A princess of course!

 Let me translate:
A princess likes pink dresses and flowers.

The BUNDLE (both kits) are15% off!

Ready2Read Level 1: Unit 8

WOW!!  Unit 8 is finished and this will wrap our Level 1 Ready2Read Units!!  It is my hope that you and your children/students have enjoyed our Ready2Read program.

If you are new to the Ready2Read Program, click {HERE} to see the information page.

*Note: As of 11/7/2012, Level 1 has been completely reworked and revised.  Here is the NEW and IMPROVED version!  This blogpost will be a bit different from the upgraded printables, but contains the same content.

Sight words: away, run, where, here, two
Word Families: -in and -ed
Theme: Word Family Garden

Unit 8 started off with our color by number sight words...
We sang our sight word song to the tune of BINGO.

This week we pulled out all the sight words and made sentences.  I also added blank spaces for Audrey to fill in a word.  I thought she did a great job and she really enjoyed it!

Our sight word caterpillar is finally complete with a total of 40 sight words!!  How exciting is that?

We decorated our sight words with jewels, glitter glue, finger paints (messy but fun), and water colors.
