Pre-Primer Sight Word Assessment Sheet

As a teacher, I was always assessing my students.  Assessments allow you to see where children are having difficulties or where they are succeeding.  It forces you to examine your approach and make changes when necessary.

I made an assessment sheet for the pre-primer sight words to go along with my sight word color by number printables and my read, trace paste printables.   For now, the assessment sheet is just to see Audrey's growth over time.  I am not being too rigorous or uptight about this assessment.  It is important that reading continue to be a fun and exciting journey for us!  However, I do want to make sure that I continue to cultivate her desire to read.  It is such a JOY to see her get so excited when she reads to us!  I love being her Mommy and teacher!

Here are some pictures of our sight word folder:
On the left side are sight words that Audrey still needs to color.
On the right is our pre-primer sight word assessment sheet.
Behind the assessment sheet are the sight words that Audrey has colored and we use these pages to make sentences with sight words.
Here are the sight word read, trace paste printables that I made for the 40 Dolch pre-primer words.

This is fabulous! And what a great idea. I'd love to do this with my littlest.

Ooooh... those do sound (and look) yummy! I'm going to have to try these once it warms up a bit. My kids would love them, I'm sure.

Thanks so much for sharing this at For the Kids Friday at Sun Scholars! I'll be posting the next link party tonight, so be sure to stop by. I can't wait to see what you have to share this week!
